Last week one of our neighbors called around dinnertime to say that the moon and Venus were aligned over our house (as viewed from hers). We ran right over to her yard to check it out. We played with the settings on our camera but weren't able to get any great shots (maybe with our tripod...). But still, kinda neat:
I was hoping to get one where you could really see the house, but this was the best I could do:
I tried again a couple of days later, earlier in the evening, but the moon was a lot higher in the sky (Venus was pretty much in the same spot as before, but since it wasn't as dark, the camera didn't pick it up as well):
This was the best picture I could get of the house...but Venus was lost completely:
Something to continue to work on. I'm thinking a tripod plus a better command of our camera's manual settings would do us a world of good.
