Pomegrantes

Last year, the electrician needed to dig a trench in the back yard to run underground power lines to the house. We had given him the green light to remove two bushes (left over from the old house) that were right where the trench was going to go, but just days before work was to begin, the bushes began to sprout the most vibrant orange flowers. We quickly figured out a different location for the trench and were able to keep the bushes.

And just like last year, over the last few weeks, unremarkable green leaves have emerged...followed by tiny dots of orange...

...and then flowers!

They start out looking like they're sprouting fruits, but then they open up and flowers emerge:

I love that it only takes a quick run out to the yard, and we're going to have fresh flowers all summer!
