I Think I Got Scammed

When we bought our tiller at Home Depot a few weeks ago, we had a coupon for 10% off our entire purchase. Steve casually proposed that, while we had a discount and were borrowing a truck to bring the tiller home anyway, we should go ahead and buy a new grill. Now, I'm not disputing that it was time for a new grill -- we've been using our $90 Target grill for close to ten years, and the rack part has broken, making it difficult to use -- but I thought such a discretionary item was so far down our list of priorities that it wouldn't happen until at least this summer.

I had expected Steve to take forever to choose a model (and I was pretty sure he'd choose the most expensive one), but he had already settled on his preferred grill -- and it was actually pretty reasonably priced. So I let him buy it...with the understanding that he isn't getting anything else for his birthday (although of course he is).

We also bought a natural gas conversion kit so we can connect the grill to the gas line we put on the back porch for that purpose (someday...when we finally finish with the landscaping). It'll be nice not to have to worry about running out of propane.

But I still can't help feeling a little bit like I got scammed....
